Development Coordinator (Westbank Toronto)

With offices in Vancouver, Toronto, and Seattle, Westbank is growing quickly and looking for the right person to join our team. We have an exciting opening for an energetic, motivated, entrepreneurial team player to join our practice and continue their career within our Toronto office. The Coordinator will work with our Development team under the direction of the Development Manager for our Toronto portfolio while being involved in all aspects of project development, including acquisitions, design, approvals, financing, construction, marketing/leasing, and project delivery/turnover. You will collaborate closely with our entire team, including our Vancouver head office, and will serve as an ambassador for the company.   

Responsibilities include

  • Coordination of project consultants
  • Coordination of planning applications, including rezoning and site plan
  • Creating and managing project schedules in Excel and Microsoft Project
  • Reviewing and providing input on drawings and specifications
  • Working with municipalities and various levels of authorities to coordinate and negotiate permits and approvals
  • Analyzing, reviewing, and recommending consultant/tender proposals and quotes
  • Writing and editing copy for community engagement and marketing assets
  • Liaison between property managers, construction, development, and accounting for preparation of budgets, expense allocations, tenant accounts, and reporting as needed
  • General administrative duties such as faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and reception relief.

Requisite Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in planning, real estate, architecture, or social science
  • Interested in building more sustainable, equitable, and beautiful cities
  • High energy, with an upbeat attitude and capacity for working flexible hours
  • Ability to contribute to and mesh with a start-up style, tight-knit company culture, to work with grace under pressure, and to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Knowledge of both the Toronto planning process and the basics of real estate finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Adobe PDF software
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) is preferred
