Senior Financial Accountant

Westbank is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to be responsible for various high-profile multi-use tower projects located in the United States. The projects will be in various phases, including pre-development, construction and property management. Reporting directly to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of accounting related functions, including:

Financial Statement and Working Paper Preparation

  • Prepare monthly financial statement packages for corporate and project entities including financial statements, cash flows and supporting working papers
  • Assist in managing cash flow requirements
  • Assist in annual audit requirements and ad-hoc reporting requirements
  • Assist in all partnership reporting
  • Assist in all lending reporting requirements

Project Development Accounting

  • Prepare and maintain monthly proformas, bank draws, budgets & forecasts
  • Effectively communicate with development team on budget concerns or overages
  • Post cash impacts from wires, ach, etc., bank reconciliations
  • Manage contract administration on development projects
  • Prepare partners cash calls

Technical and Other

  • Evaluate existing systems and procedures, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Work closely with development project managers and rental property managers to maintain an accurate, efficient accounting presentation of the operational activities
  • Administrative duties including photocopying, filing, preparing, organizing and maintaining accounting/contract records
  • Perform other accounting or administrative tasks as needed
  • Train and mentor staff as needed

Candidate must possess:

  • An accounting degree with a minimum of 6 years of direct accounting experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to adapt to multiple demands, set priorities and achieve results on a timely basis
  • Analytical thinker and ability to readily grasp new concepts and adapt to a fast paced, ever-changing environment

Desirable attributes include:

  • Experience in real estate project development, construction and property management accounting
  • Experience using Timberline and/or Yardi Voyager accounting system
  • IFRS/GAAP U.S. accounting knowledge

This position continues to evolve as the Company expands and adapts to a changing environment. It is therefore subject to ongoing change and demands someone that is willing to adapt to these changing demands.

Compensation is dependent upon experience.
