Corporate Controller
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Controller to join our Corporate Accounting Team. Reporting to the VP, Accounting & Tax, this leadership role will oversee corporate accounting functions, enhance financial reporting processes, and act as a key liaison between the accounting team and other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Consolidation & Audit
- Oversee the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements and supporting working papers for the corporate parent company.
- Manage audits and review engagements for 30+ projects across the Westbank group.
- Maintain accurate books and records for the corporate parent company within the Westbank structure.
Digital Transformation & Process Improvement
- Lead the planning, configuration, and implementation of a company-wide ERP system conversion for consolidation.
- Recommend and implement best practices for modernization and efficiency of accounting processes.
- Ensure project milestones are accurately tracked by maintaining a project management plan, schedule and documentation.
Cash Flow & Financial Management
- Forecast and manage short-term (3–6 month) cash flow requirements across the organization.
- Support the Finance team in negotiating and administering loan documents while maintaining oversight of existing and potential loans.
Technical Accounting & Process Improvement
- Provide technical accounting support for property management, project development, and corporate entities, including new corporate structure plans, complex transactions and contract-related issues.
- Assist in setting up accounting systems, policies, and procedures for new operations or entities.
- Review agreements to identify key accounting, tax, reporting, cash flow, and insurance considerations.
Operations & Leadership
- Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Support the accounting teams across project development, property management, and corporate operations.
- Supervise and mentor a team of 35 accounting professionals.
- Review internally prepared financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
What We’re Looking For:
- CPA designation with a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS, ASPE, consolidation, foreign exchange, and real estate accounting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical thinking, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Comfort working across various environments, including corporate offices, construction sites, and operations teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in real estate property management and project development accounting.
- Proficiency in Yardi and Timberline accounting systems.
Compensation: $135,000 - $165,000 depending on experience
